Explore by area

Six starting points

You do not need to cover the whole island in one day. Choose one main area and add an experience that suits its landscape.

01

Volcanoes and sky

Teide and Las Cañadas

Volcanic landscape, viewpoints, high-mountain trails, the cable car, sunsets and some of the best skies on the island.

A good fit if you want
A first visit, photography, geology and astronomy.
Good to know
Altitudee changes the weather: bring a warm layer and avoid squeezing in too many stops.

02

Forest and heritage

Anaga and La Laguna

Laurel forest, roads between ravines, small hamlets and a historic World Heritage city.

A good fit if you want
Green nature, walks, architecture and local culture.
Good to know
Mist is part of the landscape. Combine the peaks and the city to make the most of the day.

03

Ravines and the north-west

Teno, Masca and Garachico

Mountain roads, hamlets among the cliffs, volcanic rock pools and villages full of history.

A good fit if you want
Scenery, villages, photography and panoramic routes.
Good to know
The bends and driving times matter. It is better to choose a few stops and enjoy them.

04

Gardens, wine and villages

The north and the La Orotava valley

La Orotava, Puerto de la Cruz, wineries, gardens and green landscapes opening onto the Atlantic.

A good fit if you want
Food, architecture, botany and relaxed routes.
Good to know
The north is more humid and changeable than the south. A light jacket always helps.

05

Sea, ports and sunsets

The south and south-west coast

Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Los Gigantes and the main departure ports for sea activities.

A good fit if you want
Whale watching, boats, kayaking, beaches and sunset plans.
Good to know
Confirm the exact port: two activities described as being in the south can leave from points quite far apart.

06

City, coast and connections

Santa Cruz and the metropolitan area

Santa Cruz, La Laguna and the east coast make a practical base for culture, markets, beaches and trips to Anaga.

A good fit if you want
Cruise stopovers, heritage, shopping and half-day routes.
Good to know
From here Anaga and La Laguna are close; Teide needs more time.

Your accommodation changes the order

There is no single right route. These are logical combinations depending on where your day starts.

South

Costa Adeje or Los Cristianos

Start with the sea, Teide or the west. Set aside a full day if you want to reach Anaga or La Laguna.

North

Puerto de la Cruz

La Orotava, wineries, Teide and the north-west are well connected. Anaga works as another full day.

Metropolitan area

Santa Cruz or La Laguna

It is the most convenient base for combining heritage, Anaga and the east coast. The south and Teno involve more driving.

How many days do you have?

A good route does not try to see everything. Leave room for the weather, the roads and those unplanned stops.
